The Darkest Night of the Year (2008, Koontz)
I am not a follower of Dean Koontz. That being said, I have read some random books by him. The first was in middle school, where I read Whisperers. This was the first real book that I had read, and mostly the one that felt like a real book, a real experience. Then I read Servants of Twilight, I felt the ending was a a slight let down. But, man, was the getting there exciting. Then i started to read Phantoms, and it went down hill from there.
Not that it was bad or un-entertaining, but because ADD or ADHD had kicked in and a sentence would ignite a flurry of memories and ideas; most of the time, not worth the pipe dreams that lit up my brain. Most of the books were probably blew out the side of a fast moving vehicle.
The gold retriever aspect, which i should say dog aspect, because the empathy is there with all dogs and animals. This book proves that Dean Koontz is warranted in his popularity. Although, I am not sure how much of this is his editors, and what is him, Because he writes so G D M that it's insane, I can only fathom, if he does churn out as much as it seems, the writing day he has, everyday, everyday, everyday. is as supernatural as his fiction.

Cameron Pierce - Ass Goblins of Auschwitz - 2009
Obviously, the title is a grabber; I thought that it was shocking. By reading the synopsis I started to think that the ridiculous title might be warranted. The book seemed to be about an overly-imaginative child. whom, unknowingly of course, was telling a narrative. His satirical prose of what he is going through at Auschwitz, the concentration camp, was during the Nazi invasion and the capture of people's religions and race not of Aryan.
Well, I give a big thumbs up to Cameron Pierce for churning my stomach. Besides that, the story was basically a first draft; a treatment. So many instances during the story had the loving care of Burroughs that i decided that i must tread on, because there be music ahead. But. alas. there was not. It was an incomprehensible mess that tried too hard to become a whole. Sorry. dude, try writing something real. something that hurts.

Cornered! (2009, Maze)
Cornered! is pretty much what it sets out to be: A slasher flick.
Production value and acting are good...to be continued.

Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever (2010, West)
Wow, what a shitty uninspired poster.
I can not accurately assess this movie. Ti West reported that the studio took over and threw out his "John Waters" cut. I imagine that saddens anyone who hears that. Other than that, it seems to be a solid genre film in the vein of B without being B.(Say that last part fast.) Has the most gore/gross-out-moments I've seen in a while. The gross out moments rank up there with Brain Dead(1992, Jackson.) It's a very fun movie.

The Chaser (2008, Hong-jin Na)
The Chaser:
Joong-ho is a dirty detective turned pimp in financial trouble as several of his girls have recently disappeared without clearing their debts. While trying to track them down, he finds a clue that the vanished girls were all called up by a same client whom one of his girls is meeting with right now. -imdb
The Chaser brings a fresh look on the slasher/crime drama. Great plot, lighting, acting, and direction.

Killer Movie (2008, Fisher)
Killer Movie was delightfully better than other reviewers made it out to be. All of the acting seemed to be up there, nothing stuck out as being amateurish. Top production design, 35mm, good lighting, coloring, etc. Although, ultimately, nothing about the movie stood out; comedy, horror, performance, composition, or otherwise. Its all there, but nothing really exceeds the threshold of standard Hollywood fare. Ok, well, Lee (Cyia Batten) was pretty great at being a bitch, and I mean that in a good way.

Tell Tale (2009, Cuesta)
A modernized version of Edgar Allen Poe's Tell Tale Heart. The story holds barely more than the theme of the original, but what a strange theme it is. The movie is definitely a mystery first and a thriller second, although it blends the two quite nicely. The movie keeps up a commercial-pace of thriller and action, which keeps it interesting but makes it hard to create an atmosphere worthy of Poe. Nice twists though.

Mutants (2009, Morlet)
Mutants is basically 28 Days Later(2002, Boyle), but the virus topically mutates the infected. No powers added or razor sharp claws, just crazy ugly zombies.
Like most of the other french new wave horror, this is visually striking and and quite brutal. The direction in the film seems to be top notch. The screenwriters plotted this horror film in a new and interesting way, but the reliance on the zombie sub-genre takes down the points.
Someone, please, shoot the last zombie in the head and move on to something more original.

Green Food to Eat You By
Troll 2 (1990, Floyd)
This was another one of those movies that I saw growing up that managed creep me out until this day. Well not this day, because i watched it a few days ago and its pretty horrible. Probably one of the worst movies. As a child, the green "blood" was the eeriest part. So, I post this picture in remembrance to Troll 2.

Bloody Birthday (Hunt, 1981)
I saw Bloody Birthday when I couldn't have been more than 11 years old. This movie's creepy atmosphere stayed with me all these years. Until recently I had no idea what this movie was called but after googling the pieces of the story i could remember, I found this treasure's name and got to watch it again with fresh eyes.
