Dead Line 1989 Skip & Spector

This is another one of those novels that is before my time so I don't know if it's being derivative or other stories and film are deriving from this. I enjoyed the pacing of the book. The stories intertwined to make it so that is the has an anthology feel. The structure reminds me of Chuck Palahniuk's Haunted in that way. Haunted being the better book but it was written 16ish years later so it had a lot of postmodern foundation to lay. 2/5 overall.

Brides of the Impaler (Lee, 2008)

3.5/5 i really enjoyed it i just wish that there'd be a bigger WTF story-arc in his books. There's a lot of wtf murder descriptions and greedy amount of plot details but nothing that really sets the story apart as a whole that says "you gotta see this." it has an indie feel to the story line which i like, but this is extreme horror, folks, im looking for that monumental switch in the story that makes you go WTF.
Gets a WT out of the WTF

Dead Clown Barbecue

3/5
pg 260
Some great, some lame, some lukewarm. An anthology that kept me interested, not enough to strongly recommend but at the same time not recommend.

Animals (Spector & Skipp, 1992)

3/5
pgs 449
Animals is a good book It's so hard with books published only years after i was born. Sometimes, I feel like all the good has been taken and only the slack remains. So let's that be our caveat.
The book pulls on my heart strings with the protagonist being loner and someone who broods over loss as much a this character does. It definitely feels real.
The blood is real and exciting. It's extreme in the way you would want it to be, there's death of loved ones, death of the newly reformed, death of infant, and rape. It's all you could ask for in pseudo-extreme horror.
Psuedo you say? No, not all of this is graphic, its a 90s book, please. The prerequisites are there, though.
Story wise, it starts out awesome, goes to mediocre, and lands somewhere between cool and lukewarm.
